Welcome to my website

home1For a professionally stimulating and fulfilling 35 years I have worked in the field of child abuse and neglect as a licensed clinical psychologist, researcher, author and trainer. As a clinician, I have worked with: children with sexual behavior problems; children, adolescents and adults who have been abused; and children, adolescents and adults who have been abusive. My clinical work is based in the context of the family, hence I work with the family members of my primary clients, when appropriate. My primary clinical focus since running a highly specialized treatment program at Children's Institute International from 1985-1990 has been children with sexual behavior problems and their families. The bulk of my research, training and writing has emanated from this.

During these last 35 years, I have written five books, two booklets, developed three therapeutic games, published numerous articles in refereed journals, and written book chapters on children with sexual behavior problems and child sexual abuse.

I have been honored to be invited to lecture on child abuse in Australia, New Zealand, South America, Europe, Africa, Philippines, Hong Kong, Great Britain, Canada, and in 41 of the United States. I provided consultation to protective service workers, mental health professionals, attorneys, the police, probation, and the courts in the areas of children with sexual behavior problems, sexual victimization and perpetration, and domestic violence.

During my career I was a member of the American Psychological Association, the International Society for the Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect, the American Professional Society on the Abuse of Children (APSAC), the California Professional Society on the Abuse of Children (CAPSAC), the Association for the Treatment of Sexual Abusers, the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts, the California State Psychological Association, the Los Angeles Collaborative Family Law Association, and the San Gabriel Valley Psychological Association. I continue to be a member of APSAC and CAPSAC.

At this time, I am retiring from clinical practice and training. I will continue to keep pace with the field of child sexual abuse, adult/adolescent sexual offending, domestic violence and children with sexual behavior problems.
